We repainted the San Elena apartments at Holloways Beach, a full exterior job that took about two weeks from the first wash to the last coat. It started with a full wash down. There was extensive mould on the building, so the clean was a big part of the job, and we spent a lot of time on prep before any paint went on. Good prep is what decides how long a finish lasts, and mould left under a coat will come straight back through it in the wet season. All the external surfaces were painted in Dulux Weathershield. The fencing was stained rather than painted. Salt air and humidity are the hard part of any exterior at Holloways Beach, and apartment buildings along the coast take the same exposure as the cottages around them. The before and after photos below show the building as we found it and as we left it.
